Should 4K Consoles Be Offering Increased Storage?

It’s Episode 96 of the Gamers of the Lost Spark Podcast and with E3 out of the way (just), Antony and Darren get together once again to discuss all the happenings after the dust has settled. Braving the blistering heat of their respective studio’s as the UK swelters beneath an intense heatwave, nothing as paltry as ridiculously high temperatures will stop the guys from having their say.

No Halo at E3 – Disappointing or Refreshing?

It’s episode 92 of the podcast and in addition, this edition marks the 2nd anniversary of the dawn of the Gamers of the Lost Spark. Join the guys as they celebrate this milestone with their unique look at the gaming news of the last 7 days.

In a week where Halo developers 343 Industries announced that there will be no Halo 6 at E3 or Gamescom, Antony and Darren discuss whether this is a bad thing or a good move for the Xbox team’s E3 presentation.

This can be argued both ways it seems with a reasonable case put forward that Halo is Xbox and Xbox is Halo, that the rolling out of a new and exciting Halo-centric announcement at the Xbox E3 conference is a tradition, a right of passage, the big thing that all the Xbox fans are excitedly waiting for during the other treats that are announced for the future of the platform and that a no show form the Halo franchise would leave a disappointing edge to the proceedings in June for Phil Spencer and the team. Scorpio Revealed Before E3 – Genius or Folly?

The predictions had it.

Microsoft is about to unveil its Xbox Project Scorpio specifications. The event will be in conjunction with Eurogamer’s tech wizards, Digital Foundry.  Eurogamer has confirmed it will run an “exclusive Xbox Scorpio reveal” on Thursday 6th April at 2pm GMT/9AM ET, following speculation. Microsoft reportedly invited Digital Foundry to its campus recently to observe the internals of Project Scorpio and witness Forza Motorsport 7 running at 4K resolution.

A surprising move for many but most definitely not an unwelcome one. It’s big news and of course the Sparks – joined this week by James (@BigSheep) – chew over the prospect of what will be in store when the news drops.

There are a few questions to ask here, such as why have Microsoft decided to make their big reveal ahead of E3, why make the reveal through an external outlet such as Digital Foundry and just how much detail can we expect Team Xbox to reveal?

Can Microsoft Escape The Shadow of Sony’s Killer First Party Line-Up?

We’re back baby! After an unavoidable 2 week break the Sparks are back, bringing with them Episode 80 of their unique brand of pure podcast-tastic-ness.

This week the discussion turns to how well 2017 is shaping up for Sony and PS4. Not only with some fantastic existing releases coming in so early in the year but with platform exclusives coming down the line that have the guys very excited. WIth Resident Evil 7 in PSVR, Nioh garnering well deserved praise, Horizon Zero Dawn nearly upon us and many other exclusive titles (some being new IP’s) awaiting us down the road it is, once more, a great time to be a gamer.

The Lost Art of Surprise – Do Pre-Show Leaks Take The Shine Off E3?

This week James Thomas (@BIGSheep) joins Antony and Darren on the Pod adding his unique mix of insight and critique that just, well, simply classes up the whole affair to be frank.

With E3 almost upon us, the excitement at Spark Towers is tangible and so, of course, a fair chunk of debate time is allocated to discussing and dissecting what treats will be scattered before us at next weeks show and at the pre show conferences.

Taking a layer of sheen off things though is the now usual and ever increasing (at least, so it seems) number of leaks in the run up to the event.

Are these leaks truly uncontainable? Or could they be some kind of industry PR orchestrated attempt at hitting us with news in a way that makes it seem more exciting? If that is the case, then we could expect that all the great news would indeed be held back for the big conferences over the E3 week of gaming goodness.

E3 Expo in Los Angeles

If that is the case, well, that’s all well and good but here’s an idea, in fact no, a plea, from the Sparks and indeed any gamers that will join in the cry.

Legitimate or not – Please try to plug those leaks before E3! #dontleakE3

For gamers all around the world E3 has always been such an exciting time and never more so than nowadays when, thanks to the awesome evolution of technology, this hallowed event has also evolved. From its humble beginnings as a primarily business affair, to a much more exciting and inclusive event that is available for fans to watch live along with the press, to share in the anticipation, excitement and delivery of the gaming news that will shape the next year of our beloved hobby.

So please, leave the surprises alone and keep the leaks away.

Of course, it wouldn’t be an E3 with out the Lost Spark E3 Predictions, so this week Darren, Antony and James running through some possible , some crazy and some down right awesome predictions for the celebration that is E3 2016.
