This week on the Lost Spark pod Steve and Antony talk about the latest gaming news. This week the guys discuss Bungie’s announcement that they will be leaving Activision and keeping the Destiny IP. PlayStation’s cross play beta adds another title making Rocket League the second game to go cross-platform, meaning that you can now take on your friends across PC (Steam), Switch, Xbox and PS4, could this be the start of the cross platform dream, Antony can only hope!
In ‘What We’ve Been Playing’ Steve takes on Fallout ’76, hangs up his saddle after completing Red Dead Redemption 2 and thanks to the awesomeness of Xbox Game Pass has started ‘Life is Strange’ for the first time. Antony has been playing the Resident Evil 2 ‘1-shot- demo and has rolled credits on Let’s Go Pokemon.

It’s here! Yes, Nintendo’s console/portable hybrid was released last week and it looks like the launch has been quite the success if early sales figures are anything to go by.
Sleek, shiny and tactile, listen in to episode 82 of your ever faithful podcast to hear James (BIGsheep) and Antony give their hands-on verdict on this latest innovation that lies waiting to transform your gaming experience, cutting the shackles of an experience that up to now was only for the seated gamer, within the confines of their private abode. Having both bought one at launch, James and Antony are in prime position to gush about all the positives the hardware has to offer, positively ooze love and kisses over the game the console has been bought for – good old Zelda (mild spoilers from 1hr 03min to 1hr 30min), and also, of course in the interests of fairness, point out any negative points that have marred their experience of getting down and dirty with the Switch. Darren drags Antony out of his Star Wars spoiler proof bunker for another fun filled episode, in which the Sparks debate Destiny’s latest offering to their loyal gaming community and ask, have we finally reached the stage where microtransactions threaten to upset gameplay balance and if not, are we just one step away from the dreaded ‘Pay to Win’ scenario dividing ‘The Haves’ and the ‘Have Nots’ that lies in the Sparks worst nightmares?
In this week’s podcast the Sparks break down all of the recent crazy microtransactions news: Have Konami out ‘horse-armoured’ Bethesda with their new Mother Base insurance policy!? Is Destiny about to open the floodgates with their newly introduced “Silver” currency? If only there was an insurance policy we could get that protected us all against against this seemingly unstoppable barrage of cash siphons, or are the gamers who dislike this practice really in the vocal minority?
On this week’s podcast Antony and Darren run-through Sony’s TGS press conference and cannot help feeling a little underwhelmed, could the land that inspired so many of the games we love need to look to the West to re-ignite its Spark?
Plus the Sparks discuss The Gamechangers – the BBC Dramatisation of Jack Thompson and Rockstar during the development and release of GTA San Andreas and Antony gives insight into a revitalised Destiny with the advent of The Taken King and Darren praises MGSV perhaps a little too much.
We also chat about the latest gaming and tech news of the week including the newly announced release date for Telltale’s Minecraft: Story Mode and could we have a new developer for Half-Life 3? (spoiler alert, it’s a no!)
Another great game drops and with it comes great controversy as the Spark’s discuss the news of microtransactions lurking within the most eagerly awaited title of the moment – Metal Gear Solid – The Phantom Pain. We suspected already but have Konami officially revealed that they are MGSV’s real Evil Boss? Antony and Darren debate if this can ever be acceptable and at what point have these cash siphoning (allegedly optional) transactions crossed the line to intrude upon the players enjoyment.
Questions are also asked regarding using the RockBand 4 legacy adapter to use 360 controllers on the Xbox One, a disk-less Nintendo NX being a good thing and Just how much time have we Wasted on Destiny.
