THE DUKE IS BACK!

This week on the Lost Spark Podcast Steve and Antony take to the mics to discuss the latest in the world of gaming.  And this week is a BIG week because THE DUKE IS BACK!!  That’s right, the mammoth controller from the original Xbox days is making a coming back thanks to the creator of the Xbox, Seamus Blackley.

Also in the news this week Eurogamer are reporting that Playground Games, makers of the Forza Hoizion series could be working on the next Fable game. Although a new Fable may be some way off it doesn’t stop the Sparks from getting excited.

In the ‘What We’ve Been Playing’ section Steve is still deep in 1940’s Los Angeles with L.A. Noir on the Switch and Antony has jumped back into Forza Horizon 3 to marvel at the new enhanced  4K patch that has rolled out.  If you thought Forza Horizon 3 was amazing, check out the latest patch not he Xbox One X to see the eye-poppingly gorgeous environments and added detail to the impressive car rooster.

It’s episode 115 of the Lost Spark Podcast and this week Antony and James pull up the mics to talk about the latest gaming news.

In the news this week we have the first details of the new HTC Vive ‘Pro’ fresh from CES 2018, Sony have published the PlayStation 4’s holiday sales figures, and new features and changes to achievements are inbound for Xbox.

Also on the podcast this week James goes hands-on with ‘Albert & Otto’, a Limbo-like atmospheric 2D puzzle platform from ‘K Bros Games’.  Albert & Otto is a story set in 1939 Germany about a boy and his abducted sister’s magical bunny. They embark on a journey to find her, overcoming murderous beasts, lethal puzzles and flaming sheep!!!

All of this and in response to a listener email the Sparks talk about their most anticipated titles for 2018.

This One Time At Pocket Camp…

It’s episode 111 of the Lost Spark Podcast.  This week James has pulled himself away from his Pocket Camp and is joined by Manny and Antony to discuss, amongst other things, the newly released Animal Crossing Pocket Camp for iOS and Android.

Middle Earth: Shadow of War – Review

2014’s Lord of the Rings action game Shadow of Mordor turned out to be a huge surprise for many. Beneath the fairly banal character-action trappings and the grim predictability of the setting, Monolith’s ground-breaking “Nemesis” AI system breathed a new layer of life into what would otherwise have been another rote open-world collect-em-up with Batman-styled combat.

Nemesis changed everything. No longer were your orc foes simply fodder for the in-game upgrade treadmill, but now they had personality, weaknesses, strengths and a long memory; growing in combat skill with every failed encounter and crushing your spirit with well-voiced and pithy putdowns when you next stumbled on their path. Plotting to take down a particularly annoying orc was a joy; stalking across the map, preying on its weakness and then choosing just the right environment and skillset to finish the job. Monolith’s mouthy foes managed to make enemy encounters personal, and that made them matter.
