This weeks podcast sees the guys spin their unique slant on the last week in gamer-ville, with chat and debate around all the happenings in the last 7 days.
Joined by Tesco poster boy James Thomas (@BigSheep), Antony and Darren find themselves getting down to the big issues of the moment such as the merits of hens’ teeth and the challenges of hedgehog rescue – DANGER POTATO!
After learning many lessons about holding back excitement and tempering expectation, it’s no surprise that the announcement of Horizon Zero Dawn going Gold has been taken with nothing but calm acceptance by the Spark team (as the guys pre order 2 cases of the game and almost stop recording to go and start queuing up down Amazon’s warehouse). Listen in to hear some of the background of the development of this game that so many of us have our fingers crossed for to be a true classic of this generation.Antony has been getting well and truly soaked to the skin in the dripping atmosphere, horror and immersion of Resident Evil VII and gives his take on the game after playing it both in and out of VR. Listen in to find out what he thinks is the definitive way to enjoy this game and why. What will win out in the battle between graphical finesse versus the trade off of visuals for that level of immersion that only VR can give?
On a sad note, the Sparks bid farewell to Masaya Nakamura who sadly passed away at the age of 91 on 22nd January 2017. The guys pay tribute to a life that not only witnessed some amazing changes, evolution and growth within the games industry but also became a force to be reckoned with within the gaming world, founding Namco, ushering in some of the arcade experiences that secured a golden age of arcade gaming back in the day and growing into the console market, bringing many dearly loved series’ to our homes.
With such a great legacy left behind, the Sparks are thankful for what this great man did with his life within the industry. Rest in Peace Nakamura-San.
