The Witness : Did Jonathan Blow You Away?

This week James (@BIGsheep) Thomas pulls up a chair and joins the Sparks in another epic pod!

In the “What We’ve Been Playing” section James and Antony recount their time so far in the glorious island of The Witness, and pitch the game to Darren in the attempt to convince him that this epic is worthy of the time and money investment; did it work?

Also in this section Darren has been trying out some indie darlings, ‘Pony Island’ and ‘Downwell’ whilst James and Antony have been trying out The Division Beta and star jumping their way around the apocalyptic wasteland of New York.

Interesting debate sparks in light of a PC Gamer interview with Cliff Bleszinski (Gears of War), where he talks about current trends we’re seeing in the shooter genre, like the lack of single-player campaigns.

In this week’s news section Warner Bros. tease a new exciting game only to have Amazon France and spoil the surprise, Square Enix annouce the announcement of a release date and the games industry releases sales figures for some of the big titles of 2015

Excitement is brewing on the podcast this week with Warner Bros. and TT Games announcing  Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens, allowing players to relive the epic action from the blockbuster film in a fun-filled, humorous way that only a Lego game can offer. Launching on June 28, 2016 – is this the title to get Darren back into the Lego games

Also in the news section, we discuss brick-and-mortar retailer GameStop now working with game developer Insomniac Games, makers of Ratchet & Clank, Resistance and Sunset Overdrive to publish their upcoming title, Song of the Deep.

Live from the VR News Desk this week we discuss the news that Apple could be secretly readying for the VR revolution, we go to Mars (via VR, unfortunately) and wonder at the experiences coming to VR with the announcement that the London Philharmonia Orchestra will be taking you closer to the action with an event happening at the London Southbank. The event which is running from the 23rd – 25th September, the VR experience will transport attendees into the middle of the Philharmonia Orchestra.
